JOE BERGMAN
Joe Bergman graduated from UCSB in Fine Art and then studied advertising at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He began his career in advertising in 1991 at Saatchi & Saatchi, working on the Toyota account. He later moved to Ogilvy and Mather/LA, contributing to Bill Gates’s hot new software product— Microsoft Office. Joe helped with the launch of Microsoft and contributed to several of the early campaigns.
Desiring adventure and more diverse opportunities, Joe was first given a chance with FCB in Australia. He spent three years working overseas in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth as a freelancer and enjoying the international, visual style of advertising. On the way home, he stopped to visit his uncle in Honolulu and was offered a job by a small agency where he focused his talents on local business.
He was lured away from the islands by an opportunity to work on the Sony brand and many budding technology companies at Y&R/San Francisco during the “Dot Com Era.” He worked on the early websites and digital accounts of Silicoln Valley based companies such as HP, Intel and Polycom.
Joe was recruited by Deutsch/LA, where he helped create award-winning campaigns for Mitsubishi Motors, DIRECTV and Expedia.com. Deutsch was in its hey-day winning agency of the year by ADVERTISING AGE. Joe’s relentless energy and ability to come up with compelling visual solutions helped make Mitsubishi a contender and significantly expanded sales not only of vehicles, but also of fledgling, new bands that populated the music tracks of the TV commercials at the time.
Joe has worked as Creative Director at SKG advertising in Las Vegas on many landmark casino brands. And he has also served as Associate Creative Director on Chevrolet at Campbell/Ewald.
Currently, Joe works at INNOCEAN in Huntington Beach, CA on the Hyundai account. After hours, he spends time with his twin daughters, surfs and teaches Jiu-Jitsu.
